Forbidden Planet rumors have been circulating for some time regarding a rehash of Robby the Robot. David Fincher, Christopher Nolan and many more big name directors have been batted around but here's one we haven't heard for a few years: James Cameron. Yes, the man behind Titanic, The Terminator and The Abyss still has some interest in reviving the 1956 sci-fi hit, according to an unnamed source at IESB.
Cameron, who is knee deep with his upcoming film, Avatar, is said to be on board with the potential Warner Bros. tent-pole and they're Forbidden Planet script from TV scribe ( Babylon 5), J. Michael Straczynski. Grain of salt not included. For those unfamiliar with Forbidden Planet, allow me to provide you the following sypnosis from IMDB: An expedition is sent from Earth to Altair in the constellation of Aquilae (some 17 light years from Earth) to discover what happened to a colony of settlers on its fourth planet, Altair-4. What they discover is how and why an alien race of geniuses destroyed itself overnight while leaving their technology intact at some point in the distant, distant past.
